Confession & More Awards

I need to give an award to myself. The I'm an Idiot Award.

You know, I was so busy giving out awards yesterday and there were so many great blogs from which to choose from, I actually did something so embarrassing I'm blushing as I type this entry:

I wrote a comment on someone's blog telling them I'd given them an award when I really hadn't. This person was so incredibly gracious. She came and left a very nice comment congratulating the award recipients.

The funny thing is, I was up with my baby in the wee hours of this morning and it suddenly struck me what I had done. I blamed the realization on irrational, middle-of-the-night thinking. There was no way I'd made such a blunder!

This morning I actually checked it out (cue funeral march) and realized YES, I did flub up. Big time.

With yesterday being April Fools, my first instinct was to act like it was a "Happy April Fools!" type thing. But I quickly decided against that. It would not only be a jerky thing to do (read: not funny at all), but also deceitful.
So, I decided to come clean and just admit my stupidity to the world.

Susan, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I love your blog.

Since you've already received a Prolific Blogger Award, I thought I'd give you a brand new award that I am made up. (I don't think there are any rules against making up your own award, so I'm going to!)

Don't feel obligated to pass it on, but you are hereby awarded the:

A is for AWESOME award.

For bloggers who are not only fantastic blog crafters, but also AWESOME people (kind, generous, humble, gracious, and forgiving).

And if you choose, you can pass it on to five (or six!) other awesome bloggers.

Have a great day, everyone, and try not to stick your foot in your mouth -- or your foot through your laptop screen, as the case may be.

  1. Do we have to give ourselves this blog award if we did something just as embarrassing? For instance I was supposed to take 23 cupcakes in to my kindegartener's class and remembered 20 minutes before school started. Then we were out of muffin liners so I had to run to the store. I got them made, but it made me late to the once-monthly bring your parent to class activity, and the cupcakes were still warm, but they got their cupcakes in time to decorate them as bunnies.

  2. You're right, Amy - as cliche as it sounds, honesty is always the best policy.

And Kelly, at least you did remember:)

  3. Kelly, LOL! I do that kind of thing all the time! Do you think it's part of having lots of children. I wonder if I can just blame it on that....

  4. Amy - You did not have to bring it up at all, I totally, completely, absolutely understand (I have three children myself and I blunder all the time - I don't even have a baby for an excuse!)That is a beautiful award you've made me - now I'm blushing :) - and I will proudly pass it on the next time I do an award post and I will go display it right now! Thank you!

  5. Oh, and two of the award recipients from yesterday are wonderful women that I attended a week-long Highlights workshop with and now consider close friends - you have excellent taste!

  6. Aw, Susan, thanks for understanding and forgiving me. :) I feel SO much better.

A Highlights workshop! That sounds both fun and amazing. How did you get involved with that?

  7. Oh, and Kelly, yes, YOU have my permission to use my blog award if you need to. :) Absolutely. All Young or Youngish mothers who drink too much caffeine and stay up too late writing are allowed to use this award when they goof up on their blog awards. :)

  8. The Highlights workshop was definitely fun and amazing! Sharon Mayhew (who used to be my neighbor here in the St. Louis area before she moved to Iowa - come back, Sharon!) talked me into attending the Highlights Foundation Writer's Workshop at Chautauqua, New York. It was completely awesome, of course, but the very best part was meeting some fantastic writing friends - I wouldn't even be blogging now if it weren't for them. If anyone's interested, I highly recommend it!
