I have so many reasons to host a contest!
- I reached 100 followers a while back and didn't have a contest to celebrate. So this is my 115 follower celebration contest, instead!
- I got to go to the SCBWI National Conference in LA this summer. Definitely a reason to celebrate -- and it's where I bought the prizes (and had them signed by the authors, too).
- School's starting, so we all need something to cheer us up. And what's a better pick-me-up than BOOKS?!
- I want to say THANK YOU to the people who read my blog. You are amazing and I am so grateful.
To enter to win, all you have to do is:
- BE A FOLLOWER. (Simple. Just click on the FOLLOW button and follow the directions. If you already are a follower -- thank you!)
- LEAVE A COMMENT and tell me which book you'd like to win.
That's it! There will be two (2) winners selected at random, and I'll announce them one week from today: Monday, Sept. 6, 2010.
Deadline for entries is:
Sunday, Sept. 5 @ MIDNIGHT Pacific time (bong! bong! bong!...)
And now for the prizes!!

Ellen Hopkins' IMPULSE. Ellen is a verse-novel master, so if you like edgy* YA and are interested in verse novels, this book's for you. The summary reads: Three teens who meet at Reno, Nevada's Aspen Springs mental hospital after each has attempted suicide connect with each other in a way they never have with their parents or anyone else in their lives. *Because it's "edgy" some of the themes may be mature. Just wanted to let those of you with more delicate sensibilities know in advance. |

Gail Carson Levine's FAIREST. Levine won a Newbery Honor for her famous novel Ella Enchanted; FAIREST is set in the same world. If you're a fantasy buff or prefer a more light-hearted (but still a page-turning) read, this book's for you. The summary reads: In Ayortha, singing and beauty are prized above all else. Aza, a commoner, can sing, and Queen Ivi is a beauty. The queen forces Aza to use her voice to deceive the entire court. |

That's it, folks. Follow the blog and leave me your comment about which book you'd prefer to win. Best of luck to all!!
Hi Amy! I want Fairest :) When I was growing up, Ella Enchanted was my FAVORITE book. My copy is totally falling apart :) I love Gail Carson Levine.
ReplyDeleteYay for contests! If I win, I'd pick FAIREST. I haven't read ELLA ENCHANTED, but it's been on my to-read list for a long time. (I did catch the beginning of the movie once, and the voiceover made me laugh. If the book's like that, I'm sure I'll like it!)
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to say, "Thanks, Amy!"
ReplyDeleteGreat books....hmm, this is hard. I'm going to go for IMPULSE.
ReplyDelete(if I should win, I'll give you my US address and it can be put in a box with those Christmas packages from fam...)
Thanks for an uncomplicated contest, Amy! My brain couldn't have taken adding up points today. ;)
Thanks, Amy! I would love to win Fairest. Congrats on the followers!
ReplyDeleteYay! I've really enjoyed the couple of novels-in-verse I've read (as a result of your blog, of course), and would LOVE to get my hands on another. . . IMPULSE.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Grüß Gott, Amy! I love your blog and have been unofficially following it for a long time. This contest finally prompted me to become and actual follower because I adore Ella Enchanted, and I would really enjoy the chance to read Fairest. Thanks for all the wonderful stories and pictures of your little geniuses! :)
ReplyDeleteImpulse
ReplyDeleteCongrat's on having so many things to celebrate. :) If I were to win, I'd love to win IMPULSE. I keep picking it up at B & N and putting it down...so if I won it, it there wouldn't be any (so much) guilt involved in starting an Ellen Hopkins' addiction...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you went to LA and had such a good time.
Hey Amy- Fairest sounds great. Congrats- your blog is a fun place to be. Thanks for the contest and for being such an encouraging person.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway, Amy. Thank you! Impulse sounds great, but I think I'd choose Fairest because I'd like to share it with my girls.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are settling in to "back to school". Your comment on my blog made me smile because it reminded me of being a third grader myself in that very same school. : )
I already have Fairest (love it!) so would enjoy reading Impulse. Sounds awesome!! I love contests. Someday I'd very much like to win one. ;)
ReplyDeleteBoth books sound great, but forced to choose I'll go with "edgy" - Impulse!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Jodi
I love, love, love Ella Enchanted so would love to have her latest book Fairest. Maybe I'll wish on a star tonight! Good luck to everyone entering the contest and thanks Amy for putting it on!
ReplyDeleteI haven an impulse to read Impulse.
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I love contests. And I'm still way jealous that you got to go to LA. :)
ReplyDeleteI would choose Impulse because I already own fairest.
Thanks for having a fun contest!
Oooh, i love contests!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Ellen Hopkins one, cos the topic of suicide touches my heart. But not sure if Ireland is too far and too epensive to mail it? Anyway, it's fun to enter!
Mimi,
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I don't mind mailing it!
Good luck. :)
Amy
How fun! If I had a choice, it would be "Impulse." Thanks for running a fun (and easy) contest!
ReplyDeleteMy choice is Impulse.
ReplyDeleteI just met you through KarenG's BBQ. How fortunate for me!!
