love it! I want to read one!
ReplyDeleteAnd they move so quickly.
ReplyDeleteDanica, You'd love them!
ReplyDeleteMyrna, Yes, I think that's a big part of their charm. :)
Amy, I picked up I HEART YOU, YOU HAUNT ME from the library after you mentioned it - and finished it in about an hour and a half one Sunday morning:) I'll have to check this one out, too.
ReplyDelete(After I finished it, I told my husband, "Man, I need to write me one of these! I could finish the whole darn thing in about three weeks!" But then I remembered I'm not much of a poet and would probably spend about three years on the revisions. Because when you have so few words, EVERY SINGLE ONE of them really, really counts, you know?)
So glad you're enjoying the challenge!
ReplyDeleteKrista, the fact that every word counts can be terrifying. I tend to look at creating a novel-in-verse one poem at a time. Much easier to think through that way.
I've never read a verse novel, but I will try this one. It's on the list! I loved reading the illustrated novel the Invention of Hugo Cabret for the same reason- great story, thick book, and it moved so fast! And I liked the pretty pictures;)
