I Don't Like Pain

I'm heading to the doctor's office in about an hour for minor surgery.

I'd appreciate your prayers. I don't know why I feel so nervous about this. I asked my MD father-in-law if the procedure would hurt and he looked at me like I was crazy.

"You've given birth four times and you're worried about THIS?"

I just don't do well with annoying pain. You know, pain that throbs or stings and you never know when it's going to go away.

In childbirth I got something nice at the end. A baby.

With this procedure, all I'll get is a scar.

Yep, prayers appreciated.

  1. I sort of freak out over dental appointments. People think I'm nuts when they find out that I've had three home births, but the mere thought of a filling reduces me to a basket case. I'm praying for you!

  5. Amy, thoughts and prayers are with you. The procedure is probably over by now, and I'm sure it went well. Good luck with the recovery.

And I just say Janet's comment! Congratulations! That's wonderful! (Although I'm not at all surprised... :) )

  6. Thanks, everyone! I'm home now. It was painless (thanks to the anesthetic), but I was still a little shaky afterwards. I'm worried about the pain after the anasthetic wears off, so keep praying for me if you think of it. :) And I need to get used to not turning my head for the next few days. Driving home was interesting. lol!

    Thanks again!

  8. I'll definitely pray! I've had a couple major surgeries...and the best thing to remember is that the pain really only lasts a little while--the healing is always faster than you think.
Take care of yourself! And let someone make you cookies when you come home. :)

  10. I'm glad you made it through the procedure okay. I'm a big chicken when it comes to pain. Doctors preferr me sedated.
