Crazy Days

If I thought life was crazy before....
It just got crazier.

My sister-in-law, who is expecting her sixth child, was admitted into the hospital yesterday with extremely high blood pressure. She's at 32 weeks, and they're trying to hold off until Friday to deliver the baby, because that will put her at 33 weeks.

Our extended family has divided up their five kids between ourselves for the time being. My mother-in-law has taken charge of their one-year-old, bless her heart.

Football season is starting and my brother-in-law is the head football coach, so he's pretty busy.

To be honest, I don't know how these next couple months will look. The doctors said the baby may need to stay in the ICU for six to eight weeks, and the hospital is a forty-minute drive from our town.

I think we're all a little panicked. Especially my sister-in-law, who is an amazing, do-it-all sort of mom.

Prayers appreciated.

I haven't forgotten about the 200 follower party. I guess I'm at 201 right now! Thanks, peeps! I'll see what I can come up with, hopefully for next week. We'll see how things pan out with the new baby and how long I have extra children in the house. Sound good?

Thanks for hanging with me here.

  1. What a wonderful family and support group your brother and sister in law have! Here's hoping all goes well with mother and baby.

  2. oh my goodness. i'm sure the stress of knowing how early the baby will be doesn't help her blood pressure either. i'll definitely be praying. :) Keep us posted!

  3. Gosh, yours must have gone from a busy house to a very busy house!
Hope all goes well, it's a stressful time ( i remember it well, on my 2nd, waiting from 34 to 36 weeks in hospital, and poor hubby trying to manage a 1 yr old and a house-move!).
    I'll send some healing energy.
so, your little Naomi will soon have a playmate?

  4. Thoughts and prayers are with you and yours, Amy.

I spent two months in the NICU with my son and we saw a lot of preemies - many younger than 30 weeks. The nice thing with preemies is that, for the most part, all they need is time (and excellent NICU care) and they do just fine.

Take care - I'll be thinking about you -

  7. Thank you, everyone!

Things are going pretty well, better than anticipated. My mother-in-law watches most of the kids during the day at their own house, so that's really nice. My brother-in-law is able to come home at night. I thought at first we were going to have two extra children living with us, but that's not the way it's turning out. Thankfully we have lots of family and friends in the area to help out! Thank you for all your sweet words and even your offers of help. :) I'll update when the baby is born on Friday. Depending on his condition, we'll know better what to expect from the weeks ahead.

    Thank you again!!
    Amy

  8. You have a wonderful family and I will keep you all in my prayers. I have now known 3 preemies (26, 28 and 30 weeks) and they are all strapping young kids with no problems. It's very stressful the first few months because it's scary to have a little one in the hospital, so I pray for peace, esp. for Mom and Dad.
